Expositive project through which the photographer José Bravo proposes a dialog between photography, architecture and psychology.
Following the philosophy of Hat Gallery of connecting different disciplines—architecture, design and art— this is the first time that we will be organizing a purely photographical exposition in which architectural structures play an essential role. During the inauguration, the assistants can participate in a raffle drawing of the photos from the exposition.
First, I found the stage. There was something that hooked me and made me return. A certain tension. A sense of claustrophobia, almost losing my breath. I felt as though there was it’s own emotion coming those two-hundred meters of street: The people were walking differently, looking differently. They were breathing differently. A game began that ended by changing into a pilgrimage. I could not leave from there. I began to affix myself to the shape of the buildings, their structures. To turn them in a way that could affect the animated state of the environment in which we move, the colors, the materials, their building process, their density… I began to concentrate affix myself to the content. Almost all of them were financial institutions. They were turning, I wanted to relate everything, and I myself begin withdraw. I was looking more at the people each time and I myself invented what could have been behind those expressions. It was an afternoon when, at the end of the street named Pintor Sorolla, I discovered the illuminated word that summed up all that I was feeling: Sunset is like a decline. Like something that is withered, it is at the brink of falling. Sunset as a door. Into the shade, into the darkness, unknown and uncertain. Only then did I begin to realize that I was not discovering anything that was not of my own particular sunset..
